Welcome to theoryMode, the online learning platform of IonianMode!
Founded in 2021, ionianMode has grown into a comprehensive RYA Training Centre, offering a full range of RYA courses—both practical and theoretical. From beginner sailors to aspiring Yachtmasters, we’ve been dedicated to helping our students achieve their maritime goals.
In 2023, we expanded our mission by launching theoryMode, our dedicated online learning platform. Recognized by the RYA, we are proud to offer the RYA Day Skipper online course, combining our passion for teaching with cutting-edge technology.
Our courses are designed to make learning accessible, engaging, and effective. By integrating videos, animations, and clear explanatory content, we ensure that complex topics are easy to understand and enjoyable to study.

theoryMode Online RYA Courses
At theoryMode we understand that your time is precious, and we have designed our courses with that in mind.
- Our courses are flexible with a mixture of short lessons which can be taken when you have a spare 5 minutes and longer ones which take in more complex concepts and can be taken when you have some time to sit down and concentrate.
- We aim to impart knowledge efficiently, no long talking head videos. We use a mixture of animations and videos that give you the theoretical knowledge you need to know and lessons that clearly explain key concepts and then help you to apply your new skills.
- Our RYA-qualified instructors are available 7 days a week to help you if you get stuck, they will be happy to share their wealth of experience.
- Quizzes are marked automatically which means no waiting around for a result. You will be given feedback which will help you correct any gaps in your knowledge.
